Buck Island Reef
Don’t let this one mile-long, by half mile-wide island fool you! It may be small, but it brings thousands of visitors each week to take in its natural beauty and explore its 18,000-acre coral reef that surrounds the entire island—protected as Buck Island Reef National Monument. It’s best for beginner divers to avoid the winter season because of harsh winds! But there’s always hiking trails and a stunning observation point to enjoy. -
Easternmost Point in the U.S.
There’s something so breathtaking about being the first person to watch the sunrise before everyone else in the U.S. Located on the east end of St. Croix, atop Point Udall, sits a towering sundial called the Millennium Monument. It was built for the New Year’s Celebration of 2000, which also marked the first sunrise of the new millennium. Besides its cool history, the site has the most spectacular views on the island! -
Bioluminescent bays
As rare as bioluminescent bays are, St. Croix has two of them! The bio-bays at Salt River Bay National Historic Park and Ecological Preserve and Altona Lagoon both offer visitors the chance to experience the natural wonders at night. You can’t visit St. Croix and not experience this! Take a guided kayak tour into the bay to see the stunning bioluminescent light shine from under you. Trust us, you’ll want to add this to your Caribbean Bucket list!
